Busy Days

SFS Middle School Atrium

View of the High School from the MS bridge.

We are just getting grounded in our new homes and spaces on campus. This is a large campus with many buildings and floors and hidden spaces. We were able to vist a large department store Home Plus, that carries general dry goods, small appliances and has a large supermarket. The other positive piece was a Starbucks is also located there. The school took us over and carted all the stuff back.

These are a couple of pics I took today around campus.

New Computer

Yes Bev got one also

We are eating our way through orientation at SFS in Seoul. This is the best orientation I have ever seen.  HR is very thorough and really gives information when you need it. The surprise of the day was the rollout of brand new MacBook Pro laptops for all staff. Wow not only are we each getting one but all returning staff are also getting one! These will boot as a Mac or as a Windows machine. Your choice when you start-up.

First Days at our New School, Medical Checkup

Dr. Linton, US trained Head of International Health Services

It is great fun to meet new people. Our class will be the group that is coming to the school this year. Today we had the required medical exam, which other than being repetative with what we were required to previously complete to get a Visa was really quite basic. We did find that the hospital, Severence Hospital is extremely modern and totally first class. We met the American doctor in charge of the international hospital program and his staff of 20 or so Dr's, nurses etc. I feel very confident that our medical needs will be taken care of.

This is info on the Hospital: http://www.yuhs.or.kr/en/
This is a teaching hospital with over 1000 Dr. Instructors and over 1500 Medical students. They also boast the best and most modern medical technology available worldwide.

From the website:
There are approximately 7,000 employees throughout the Health System, which include some 2,000 physicians and 5,000 support personnel. In addition, a total of 24,000 students have graduated from the colleges and graduate schools. The hospitals have around 3,700 beds and see around 3 million outpatients and 1 million inpatients annually. The total lot size is 95,000 Pyung (77 acres) with a building size of 18,000 Pyung (59,508m²=640,538ft²), and a total floor area of 140,000 Pyung (462,840m²=4.98 million ft²).
